As part of the Ottawa Peace Festival, World-Changing Kids is hosting two days of Children’s Programming.

Kids Love Peace

There will be kindness and friendship, music and dancing, yoga, painting, biking, sports, mindfulness, arts and crafts and much more!

Cost: Free! But donations are welcome.

Agenda – Day One (with more activities to come)

Lunch from Gloria’s Pizza – Free! – 12:00 – 1:00

Arrive early for a free slice of cheese pizza (while supplies last)! Gloria’s Pizza is a fantastic local pizza shop, located at 1588 Walkley Rd.

Arts Express, Nancy Dean – 12:00 – 2:00
Nancy will be coordinating a large scale group art project. Make sure to go see her early if you want to be part of it!

Ottawa Police Service – Service de police d’Ottawa – 12:00 – 4:00
The Ottawa Police will have a tent set up with Child Print, tattoos, Positive Ticketing and a Cruiser to explore.

Family Harmonies Familiales – 12:00 – 4:00
This awesome group will be running so many amazing activities during the day, including such things as: a friendship bracelet station, re-purposed crafts, a group art project and live music – which will include engaging the kids to join in.

Miss Kitty, Awesome Mascot Cat – 12:00 – 4:00
Megan Lunau (aka Miss Kitty ) is a woman with a mild developmental disability who loves to share her talent as a mascot with kids and adults alike!

Teachers Love Peace, Emily and Debbie – 12:00 – 4:00
Emily and Debbie are two elementary school teachers with a passion for fostering well-being, emotional awareness, character growth, and kindness in children and their caregivers. They are motivated by their love of learning, their compassion for others and their desire to live a simple and mindful life.

Go visit their booth to be a part of building a gratitude tree, where you and your child can take a minute to focus on the things you are grateful for. They will also be making “share a smile cards” that your child can give to someone in need of a smile, and they will have sidewalk chalk for the kids so they can decorate the pathways around the park with their beautiful art and positive mantras. Lastly, they will have some bubbles to play with and practice deep breathing with. They look forward to meeting you and your families!

Everyday Superheroes – Natasha Grey – 1:00 – 3:00
Natasha Grey has a Master’s degree in Psychology with an expertise in Child and Family Therapy. She is the co-author of the children’s book titled Everyday Superheroes and is the host of the Conscious Living Podcast. She focuses her time and energy on well-being and wholeness that includes mind, body and spirit. Natasha will be reading her book, Everyday Superheroes, with the kids and will also have some related colouring pages and activities. White Butterfly Yoga, Nathalie Beaupré – 2:00 – 2:45
Children’s Yoga Class – and parents can join in too!

Carlington Arts Initiative, Linda Vanderlee – 2:00 – 3:00
Puppet Speak. Kids and adults are invited to make a simple hand puppet with Linda. Once the puppets are made we’re going to find out what they think about peace and kindness. Maybe we’ll even create a puppet choir! Wouldn’t you like to hear your puppet sing?!

Why Am I Perfect?, Nathalie Beaupré – 2:00 – 4:00
Nathalie is the author of Why am I Perfect?, an empowerment toolbook written for children first. You can listen to an interview on her website at www.whyamIperfect.com. Nathalie will have a Crafty Kids Corner set up with lots of fun arts and crafts.

Living Inside Out, Kaeli Van Regan – 12:00 – 4:00
Kaeli is author of the book “Parenting Your Way” and “Peacity”. She is a life coach and energy healer at www.livinginsideout.ca. She will bring you different ways to experience living from the inside out. Drop by to check out new ways to bring peace, joy and relaxation to your day.

Adriana Trejo, Singer and Guitarist – at 1:00
Adriana is a 15 year old Canadian Salvadoran Singer & Guitarist.  Adriana has performed at the Galai School Project for Africa fundraiser, the Ottawa International Drumming Festival, the Latin Cultural Centre, the Overbrook Community Day, the Pupusa festival, Latin festival, and list goes on….

Michelle’s Barefoot Books, Michelle Rosales-Dugas – 1:00 – 4:00
Join Michelle for a book reading and some activities associated with their new book “The Barefoot Book of Children”. This beautiful book promotes one of the main missions of Barefoot Books – diversity and inclusivity.

Percussion Workshops, Tony Almonte – 1:30 – 2:00 and 3:00 – 3:30
Tony Almonte is an internationally known artist and musician, a man of many hats. A singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded, toured and performed with acts such as Grammy winner Louie Vega & David Morales, Grammy nominee Sam Screnci from Quicksound, Bran Van 3000 & Franky Selector (Montreal), Tortured Soul, Kokolo & Jephté Guillaume (New York). He also seized the opportunity to perform with Dave Chappelle & Wyclef Jean of The Fugees during the “Just For Laughs” Festival in Montreal. His first solo album features his project titled TAPSOUL, expected release planned for winter 2016.

Tony will be running two half hour percussion workshops for the kids. Go see Tony to try out some awesome drumming!

Fairlea Community Association – 2:00 – 3:00
“What Kind of Fairlea Do You Want?”
This is your opportunity (kids and adults alike) to share your hopes for your community with the Association’s president, Peter Stockdale. The last time we had a Fairlea Park consultation we got the splash pad from the City (but not a roller coaster).

Maker Junior – 2:00 – 4:00
Stop by Maker Junior’s booth to create some awesome musical instruments that you will be able to take home.
