We are helping my friend Amanda bring a Syrian family to safety here in Ottawa/Gatineau. Akyla Al Fares, her adult daughter Zainab Al Taha, and Akyla’s dependent children Husni, Fatema, Hussein and Mohammad Al Taha are Syrian refugees who have been living in Lebanon for years now while they wait for a new home country. Akyla and Zainab are considered by the UNHCR as women at a very high risk of persecution or worse. This is a very serious situation. Grace United Church is working hard to bring these vulnerable women and children to safety in Canada and needs your help. As the family’s sponsor, Grace United Church is responsible for meeting the family’s every need during their first year in Canada. We having been learning more about refugees during our World-Changing Kids online summer camp this week. The kids made these posters to help spread awareness about the need to help the Al-Taha family.
