We were so excited to officially launch “Plant a Garden of Kindness, A Child’s Guide to Filling a Year with Weekly Acts of Kindness – CHEO Edition” at the CHEO Telethon on June 11, 2017. For those of you who don’t know, CHEO is the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario – an amazing hospital that we are so lucky to have so close to us! Proceeds from the sale of this book are being donated to the CHEO Foundation.
This book is the same as our original version, it still has 75 Acts of Kindness – with the goal being that you pick 52 of them and do one a week for a year, but some of the Acts of Kindness have been changed to be specific to CHEO. For example, in the original version, one of the Acts of Kindness asks the child to hold a lemonade stand and donate the proceeds to the charity of their choice. In the CHEO Edition, it asks the child to donate the money to the CHEO Foundation and provides information on who to contact to drop the money off. We are super proud of this collaboration and are happy to be able to help out this amazing hospital.
We had a great book launch at the Telethon.
In addition to selling our book, we helped the kids make Kindness Cards to give to the volunteers at the Telethon.
To add to the awesomeness of the day, we were set up right beside The League of Super Heroes. My daughter made a Kindness Card for Booster Gold.
These great World-Changing Kids made a Kindness Card for Ant-Man, who told them it was the best card he had ever received!
Every kid wanted to get their photo taken with this amazing group of Super Heroes!
And then Batman made an appearance.
We did some more awesome Kindness Card making.
Our fantastic friends and neighbours dropped by the CHEO Telethon to donate the money that they had been collecting over the last year. They raised $119! Way to go!
