PROGRAM SUMMARY
Upstanders Academy: an online social justice experiential learning program for youth ages 8 – 13, where we talk about real world issues and come up with actions we can take to help make things better. We connect with, support and empower our youth through meaningful and impactful experiences, conversations and mentorship.
October means a new social justice theme for Upstanders Academy and a new chance for kids to join in! We will be learning more about LGBTQ+ for October.
We have had a great time learning amazing things in our September session on Plastic Pollution. Last week, we got to interview Melanie Abdelnour, Co-founder and Executive Director of Deep Blue Clean-up – a local non-profit organization focused on educating youth about plastic pollution and methods of cleaning our waters from harmful plastics, and micro-plastics. The conversation was so meaningful, inspiring and impactful.
