DETAILS
Join us for a wide open, unscripted conversation with Meghan White and Lauren Cauchy, Founders of Period Packs. Topics to be covered include: Menstrual Equity, Starting a Non-Profit, Grassroots Activism, Grant Writing, and Legislation.
Meghan and Lauren will start with a brief introduction about Period Packs, and then we will open the floor to the kids to ask any and all questions that they feel inspired to ask.
I am so excited for this amazing opportunity. I am excited to see how the kids will engage with topics that society might normally decide are above their level of understanding or interest. I believe that our awesome kids will be super interested in learning all about these topics. And I love thinking about the amazing things they will achieve if they have this knowledge at their young ages. I didn’t learn about the issue of menstrual equity until a few years ago, really. I had never had to think about it. Our world will be much more fair and just if our kids – both our girls and boys – know about this from the get go, and have the tools in their social justice toolbox – like starting a non-profit, grassroots activism, grant writing and changing legislation – to take action.

AGE RANGE
We have listed the age range of 9 – 15 as a guide. We are happy to have younger children join … especially with parental involvement. You know your child best – if you think you have a 7 or 8 year old who could handle attending this on their own, feel free to sign them up. If you have even younger children, but want to attend with them, feel free to sign up as a family. We do love when we have parents joining us for the workshop! You are always able to mute yourself, you can even have your video off – and the kids are not expected to sit still and listen perfectly – we have had kids participate in past events while jumping on a trampoline! We want everyone to participate in whatever way they feel comfortable and learn best! And we don’t believe that kids are ever too young to discuss a topic – especially with their parents there to help field additional questions.
LOGISTICS
The workshop will take place through Zoom. The meeting link will be emailed to participants the day of the workshop.
TICKET PRICING
You will notice that we have listed two ticket prices for this event – $15 or $25 per family. I use this two ticket format when I am running a workshop with a guest. When I invite a guest to a workshop, I want to make sure that they are fairly compensated, so I split the revenue from a shared workshop 50/50. But I also want to be sensitive to our participants’ needs right now.
With this two ticket format, families can self-select the ticket price that works best for them in this current time. We know that a lot of people are experiencing financial hardship right now, and we want to be empathetic, compassionate and accommodating to that. But we also know that there are others who are less affected financially right now and are looking for ways to help our local artists, organizations, community builders and businesses. We thought that this two ticket price system was a fair way to balance all this. Please select either price, without any guilt or fear of judgement. And, if $15 is not possible at this time, but you really want to attend, please email us at worldchangingkids@gmail.com and we can work something out!
