Ready for a super honest post? For all the prepping and all the posting I did about the amazing winter break online camp I had set up to start on Monday, I only had one family signed up. I hate that feeling of deciding if you keep pushing it for a few days, or if you call it and admit defeat. Except, this was the third time that I had tried to run this camp with Sam Beynon, from Sisters Hlgiikw and I did not want to fail on her again. And Sam is bringing her friend Lucy in to the camp for even more awesomeness, so this made the feeling of failing even worse.
So I swam around in a sea of despair for a few days, and then I came up with a new plan.
I realized that we are all barely holding on right now. Our plans for gathering with friends and family are changing by the hour. No one even knows what tomorrow is going to look like. No one is ready to commit to a five day camp starting Monday.
First, I decided that we need a few more days of rest – myself included – and I have revised the camp so that it starts on Wednesday and runs for three days.
Then I realized that even a three day commitment might be too much right now, so I have offered a daily, drop-in rate.
And then, I do really want to highlight that if you want to join, and the price is preventing you from joining, just send me an email at worldchangingkids@gmail. com and we will work something out. I want to be able to compensate my special guests fairly – but we are all of the mind that we just want everyone who wants to attend to be able to attend. In that line of thinking … if you felt so inspired to purchase a ticket and gift it to someone who could otherwise not afford to attend, let me know and I will find someone to pair you with!
