OK, I’m back! Sorry for disappearing there. After pivoting back in March to offer our programs online, building even more programs as the kids requested them, and running workshops and camps every week since March Break, I took two weeks to head up to my family cottage – which I am so grateful that we were able to do. I thought I would get some work done there, but I totally shut down.

And during these last two weeks, we all had to face the school decision, which I am having such a hard time with. The decision to keep our kids home or send them to school is so overwhelming and terrifying and impossible. We all need to remind ourselves that whatever decision we each make is great – we are all doing the best we can with the information we have and the realities we are experiencing. I am sending each and every one of you love and support as we navigate all this.

I will be keeping my kids home and trying the online learning option. I will also be keeping in close connection with our awesome school and have already offered them my help and support in anyway that they might need.

Now I would love to hear from you – what would you like to see from World-Changing Kids for the fall?

For the parents keeping their kids home and doing online learning – would you want us to offer some more online programs? Or will your children be at their limit for online learning? For parents sending their kids to school – would your kids want to come home and get online for a program with us?

We could offer programs during the day – for kids doing the learning at home. We could do an “after school” option – like in the 3:30 to 5:00 time slot. We could offer programs in the evenings or on weekends.

We could do more programming that includes yoga and mindfulness and healthy snack making with Heather from Here and Now Studio and awesome art with Nancy from Practice Making Art, like with did with our summer camps.

We could do a once a week writing and activism and Zine making workshop with Meg from Wordplay Workshops – maybe over 6 weeks or something.

We could do a music and activism and songwriting workshop with Derek from SING SONG PARTY TIME – again, once a week for a number of weeks.

I do know that this might actually be too early to have answers to any of these questions. But I wanted to plant the seed and get the conversation started at least.

Let me know by email at worldchangingkids@gmail.com what your thoughts are on all this and what kind of support you could use from us!
