WORKSHOP DETAILS
Date: Monday, May 18, 2020
Time: 1:00 to 2:00
Price: $15 or $25 per family
Ages: 4 to 9
In this online workshop we will interview my friend Brigitte, who runs Shadow Ottawa, a grassroots group that raises awareness for, and supports, Ottawa’s homeless and at risk.
This workshop will have two parts. I will start by talking with the kids about homelessness at a very basic level, I will explain who Brigitte is and what she does. I will help the kids come up with some questions for Brigitte to get the interview rolling.
Then, we will bring Brigitte into the workshop. She will give a bit more of a detailed introduction to what she does. And then we will let the kids start asking questions. We will record the interview and share it on our World-Changing Kids social media pages. It will be kids interviewing a homelessness advocate to help other kids learn more about the issue. I am so excited.
* If there are kids who want to attend, but don’t want to be on the recording, or parents who don’t want their child to be on the recording, we can definitely make sure that they are part of the workshop, but not part of the final video. Or we could have them on the recording without their video, just their voice asking a question. We can discuss this in more detail when you sign up!
LOGISTICS
The workshop will take place through Zoom. The meeting link will be emailed to participants the day of the workshop.
TICKET PRICING
You will notice that we have listed two ticket prices for this event – $15 or $25 per family. I use this two ticket format when I am running a workshop with a guest. When I invite a guest to a workshop, I want to make sure that they are fairly compensated, so I split the revenue from a shared workshop 50/50. But I also want to be sensitive to our participants’ needs right now. With this two ticket format, families can self-select the ticket price that works best for them in this current time.
We know that a lot of people are experiencing financial hardship right now, and we want to be empathetic, compassionate and accommodating to that. But we also know that there are others who are less affected financially right now and are looking for ways to help our local artists, organizations, community builders and businesses. We thought that this two ticket price system was a fair way to balance all this. Please select either price, without any guilt or fear of judgement. And, if $15 is not possible at this time, but you really want to attend, please email us at worldchangingkids@gmail.com and we can work something out!
