Bio
Lindsey Barr is an author, speaker and founder of World-Changing Kids (WCK) – a social enterprise dedicated to character education, leadership development, community building and social justice. WCK empowers children to believe that they can make the world a better place, helps them figure out how they want to do this, and gives them the tools necessary to make this happen.
Plant a Garden of Kindness
Lindsey has written a book, “Plant a Garden of Kindness, A Child’s Guide to Filling a Year with Weekly Acts of Kindness”, which consists of 75 Acts of Kindness kids can do in their community to help build their confidence, leadership abilities and screen-free social networking skills, while also building a friendlier community.
Year of Kindness for Schools
Lindsey has created a Year of Kindness for Schools Program, which is completely student-led and provides students with a framework for how to be engaged, passionate, inspired and empowered citizens and leaders. Since launching this program last year, she has facilitated programming in 10 schools in the Ottawa area, directly connecting with and inspiring over 1,700 students already!
Laurie Kavanaugh, Principal at Charles H. Hulse, had this to say about the program:
“The year of Kindness Program at Charles H. Hulse PS provided daily and weekly Acts of Kindness that students and their families were encouraged to complete. They were simple acts that reinforced the character traits we are working to instill in students. This program engaged students, classrooms and families throughout the year. Lindsey was very responsive to our needs and ensured that student voice was present during her introductory and closing assemblies. Lindsey’s passion and enthusiasm was felt throughout the entire program.”
World-Changing Kids Learning Community
