We had a fantastic Family Day Skating Party at the Alta Vista Outdoor Rink this past Monday.

There was a bonfire, hot dogs, roasted marshmallows, more baked goods then you could eat, hot chocolate, and of course skating! And with help from the amazing Nancy Dean, we held a painting workshop in the ice shack too!

We had about 25 kids paint beautiful, love-inspired creations for their families. Then we had each painter add their contribution to a group painting – which you can see in the photo above. We will be donating this “Welcome Painting” to the Resettlement and Family Services – Samaritans and Ansar group for them to hang in the living room of a family who has just immigrated to Ottawa.

It is our hope that this family feels welcomed by the many children who put their beautiful, artistic touch on this painting.

And now we need your help! We want to write a nice quote in the middle of the painting – a message of love, peace, kindness and hope – a message to let this family know that we are happy they are here.

Please comment below with any quotes that you think would be perfect for this (with the author’s name) … or if you are feeling creative, feel free to send us one you have written yourself!

Thanks to all the fantastic, World-Changing Kids who joined us for painting!
