Acts of Kindness You Can Do When You Travel
#3. Bring a Water Bottle
A really easy one. Bring your own water bottle when you travel. This way you will not have to buy any throw away plastic water bottles.
This is a super kind act to do for our planet, as plastic water bottles take a lot of oil to produce and years to disintegrate. Here are some scary statistics from National Geographic Kids:
• Americans buy 29 billion water bottles a year.
• In order to make all these bottles, manufacturers use 17 million barrels of crude oil. That’s enough oil to keep a million cars going for twelve months.
• For every six water bottles Americans use, only one makes it to the recycling bin. The rest are sent to landfills. Or, even worse, they end up as trash on the land and in rivers, lakes, and the ocean.
