On Saturday, February 14, 2015 we held a Valentine Day Card Making Workshop at the Hockey Day in Canada Family Skating Party at the Alta Vista Park Outdoor Rink. The fantastic World-Changing Kids in our neighbourhood made over 50 Valentine’s for us to take to Billingswood Manor Senior’s Residence.
We had a super team of five Valentine Card Deliverers come with us to Billingswood to hand out the cards to the residents. The residents loved it, the children loved it, the staff loved it, even the birds loved it! It really was such a heart-warming experience. This visit to Billingswood has inspired me to think of more ways that we can get the children involved with the retirement homes in our neighbourhood. Stay tuned for more information on this!
Delivering Valentine Cards is one of the acts of kindness in my book, “Plant a Garden of Kindness, A Child’s Guide to Filling a Year with Weekly Acts of Kindness“. The book consists of 75 acts of kindness that children between the ages of 2 and 10 can do to make their neighbourhood a friendlier place.
